Last October 18th representatives from a wide cross section of Jamaican companies met at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston for the BizTech Forum and Showcase.
The event, hosted by the Jamaica Computer Society (JCS), attracted more than 700 participants over three days, during which they learned about the future of technology and the possibilities it may bring to the organizations.
At the event, local and international experts gave presentations on various advancements in computer technology, such as eSource Capital Inc., who presented Cloud Innovation for the Jamaican market. This was the first time one of Google’s and Amazon’s Premier Consulting Partners participates in an event of this sort in the country.
“The sponsorship and booths objective was met and exceeded. All our broad topics were represented in presentations and panel discussions, and some in great depth and with consummate competency, with over 50 local and international speakers” - Dean Smith, BizTech chairman
The eSource Capital Inc. Group (eSource Capital and Escala 24x7) offered two presentations, as well as an Immersive Demo Workshop where participants learned about applying innovation for any organization, collaboration platforms to solve business challenges and how to build real prototypes with simple collaboration tools.
Alejandro Planas, Managing Partner at Escala 24x7 and the only GCP and AWS certified architect for the territory, spoke about the theory and best practices behind Machine Learning and Big Data, providing the audience with real examples and next steps to implement in their organizations.
The second presentation was led by Ignacio Perez, Director of Sales and Marketing at eSource Capital Inc, who discussed Digital Transformation through Google Cloud.
“Jamaican businesses and government entities were very open to adopt new Cloud technologies and showed a lot of interest on what Google and Amazon had to offer” - said Perez
